#ChooseHope4SMS

This year’s SMS Awareness Day campaign is going back in time and revisiting an “oldie but goodie”theme…#ChooseHope4SMS. So often, we can find ourselves feeling defeated and hopeless in the midst of parenting or caring for an individual with Smith-Magenis Syndrome. There are many complex and challenging aspects of the diagnosis that seem relentless at times. We know that many of us have experienced isolation, loneliness and despair at some point on this SMS journey.

The message of this campaign is really the message of the SMS Research Foundation – there is hope. Whether it’s through research to find solutions to make life better, connection, community, intervention, medication, or even just the huge-small victories our kids accomplish, we always have a reason to CHOOSE HOPE for Smith-Magenis Syndrome.

As part of this campaign effort, we want to hear from you. What brings you hope? What makes you feel most hopeful? Are there moments or milestones you are celebrating that you never thought your child would achieve that make you believe more is possible? What are your biggest hopes and dreams for your child? Please send us a video or a few sentences with a photo and we will share the ways in which you #ChooseHope4SMS throughout the month of November to celebrate SMS Awareness Day. Your hope will encourage and bring light to others. Please email your submissions to Jennifer at jennifer@smsresearchfoundation.org.
