Why We Support the SMSRF
There is no foundation closer to our hearts than the SMSRF. When my best friend of 30+ years co-founded the foundation to fund research, we knew we would be lifetime supporters. When it came time for our daughter to do a service project for her bat mitzvah, she wanted to do something for the foundation, and knew that raising awareness was important. Jessica made a video (see the video here) geared towards teens (and adults) explaining the syndrome. She honed in on the symbol of the foundation, the lotus flower, which represents hope and strength. Jessica made origami lotus flowers to give out and set up shop at our temple in an effort to educate others. What she learned, as did we, is that the foundation is itself a symbol of strength, hope and determination. Our family is excited to continue to support the foundation in the years ahead.
