Dear Friends and Supporters,
When my daughter Sydney was first diagnosed with Smith-Magenis Syndrome, our world shifted overnight. Like so many parents, I searched for hope in a landscape that felt uncertain and isolating. It was through that search, and because of Sydney and others like her, that the Smith-Magenis Syndrome Research Foundation (SMSRF) was born. From the start, our mission has been simple: bring families together, accelerate science, and ensure that progress never stalls. Every breakthrough we fund, carries the stories of families waiting for answers, fighting for progress, and believing that change is possible.
As we approach the end of 2025, we are reminded of how far we have come and how much more there is to do. Every step forward in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (SMS) research has been made possible by your belief in what is possible. Together, we have turned questions into discoveries and discoveries into hope.
This year has been one of growth and transition. With new faces, fresh expertise, and expanded collaborations across leading institutions, we are entering an exciting new chapter. The energy surrounding our mission has never been stronger, and your continued partnership is the key to moving science forward.
Each day, families living with SMS navigate challenges few can imagine. Their resilience and love inspire the science we support. Because of you, SMSRF has advanced groundbreaking work in gene therapy, sleep and behavior research, and cellular modeling, bringing us closer to the treatments we need.
But we are not done. New projects are ready to launch, and new ideas are within reach if we can fund them. Every dollar you give moves promising science from the lab toward life-changing results. When you support SMSRF, you are not just donating. You are joining a community that refuses to give up. You are ensuring that hope keeps pace with science and that progress continues for all those who depend on it. Together, we are moving science forward—one discovery, one breakthrough, and one act of generosity at a time.

On behalf of the SMSRF team, our Board of Directors, and families around the world, thank you for standing beside us. Your generosity turns uncertainty into hope – and hope into action. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with health, peace, and possibility.
With gratitude
